It’s time to embrace the role of Captain, Managing Director or whichever role suits as long as you start delegating out to those within your team.
Because we aren’t made to do everything.
Yet we’ve made to feel guilty for not doing it all and we burn ourselves out!
Guilt and burn out - its a vicious cycle!
There’s a reason why it takes a village when you have a baby, but there’s no reason why that mentality has to stop.
Each person has a role to fill and most likely one they are great at - meaning you don’t have to be perfect at everything, but you can be damn good at what you’re good at doing.
Here are 2 ways I embrace the art of delegating in my relationships:
1 - communication
My spouse, friends and family don’t know what workload I have or the stress I’m feeling unless I express that to them. The same applies for you.
To ensure we are on the same page, my husband and I started a weekly coffee date. Either at home or we visit our favourite café, or test out somewhere new for an extra adventure. Each week we have an hour together to go through the week just gone, plans coming up for the following week and where/how we’d like to have or can offer support.
It sounds simple, yet its completely changed and upgraded our relationship.
How does this apply to delegation? Well we can gauge the support needed and either take on or offload a job or task to the other person.
2 - boundaries

So the key point I’ll leave here is - learn the art of saying no.
Remember delegation is about not doing everything, so just because you’ve been asked doesn’t mean you have to do it.
