A Wellbeing Coaches guide on getting started when prioritising your self care.

You know you need to rest

You know you need to look after yourself, but when there’s a million other things to do, your self care drops down the priority list.

This creates an endless cycle of:

*over doing

*burning out

*feeling moody & resentful

Here are my 3 go to tools when starting to prioritise your self care:

1 Start small

This could be taking just 5 minutes per day to meditate or journal.

You can try habit stacking - doing a new habit while doing an old habit. Such as focused breathing while making breakfast.

2 The 3D method

Have a to do list longer than your arm?

It’s time to Delegate, Delay or Ditch!

Believing that only you can do it all is a sure fire way to burn out. Been there and done that.

Look at your to do list and decide what can be delegated to someone else, what isn’t urgent and can be delayed and then what really doesn’t need doing and ditch it.

Try to keep 1-3 things on the to do list daily.

3 No is a full sentence

This was my biggest challenge, I said yes to everyone and burnt out PLUS felt resentment to everyone just taking from me.

Learning to say no can be the best thing you can do for your self care.

When saying no you don’t need to explain yourself. A simple no is enough.

No idea where to start?
